The Literary Horse
Horses, Barn Culture, Dressage, Ordinary Life as an Out Lesbian
The Literary Horse is a fun, goofy, occasionally serious place where I get to moosh people, places, and events together into (hopefully) funny or meaningful stories that resemble our lives.
Since being a horse person comes complete with its own complex language and culture, I’ll be translating Barn to English from time to time. Maybe it will even help your spouse/family/friends get a clue what we’re all on about.
On tagging Lesbian/Gay when posts don’t seem relevant to either:
I have a friend who says “Let’s all go out for Chinese food!” And she laughs herself silly. We all roll our eyes because we GET it after the 1,000th time: if she’s eating a Big Mac, she’s eating Chinese food. She’s Chinese and she’s eating it, so by golly it’s Chinese food! Going out for “Chinese” might mean pizza and beer.
That’s the idea. Let’s go out for some Lesbian/Gay life…you might get gay…or you might get something you don’t associate as gay, because by golly if it’s in my life, it is gay.
Okay. It’s a weird analogy. But everything in my life comes back to animals or food, so we knew it was going to be one or the other, right?
Under the labels, folks, it’s my belief we’re all more or less the same.
This is fiction that likely had a starting point…somewhere…in a real event, person, or place, but it doesn’t necessarily represent any real event, person, place, or thing. Even the horses are mooshed into each other.
That was the original concept. I’d write fiction. Uh-huh. See Disclaimer disclaimer below. I have yet to make something up, though I do change names and details at times. I admit I’m a drama queen, so there is a smidge of exaggeration here and there. But the funniest stuff is usually exactly how it happened, verbatim.
That said, as the saying goes, “Truth is stranger than fiction”.
I like ’em. Short. Long. Whatever. Feel free to comment away. It’s fine with me if you say hi, or I like this, or, me too!, or I totally agree/disagree with you and think that idea is great/moronic. I appreciate that you’re here, and welcome commentary/dialogue. We all know flaming is worthless for communication (even if it makes you feel better), so if you disagree, just say so politely and help me understand why. Might not change each others minds, but that’s okay. Might like each other anyway.
